VIVE Mars presents Best Shot! Student Edition

Create a 1–3 minute film using VIVE Mars CamTrack and submit your entry between April 21 and June 8, 2025. Entries using the new VIVE Mars BETA Software will be eligible for a special bonus award—details below. Winners, selected by our soon-to-be-announced guest judges, will be revealed on June 25, 2025. Be sure to check the rules to make sure you qualify.

‍COMPETITION DATES:

• START: Submissions open Monday, April 21st, 2025, 12:00 AM PST
• DEADLINE: Submissions close Sunday, June 8th, 2025, 11:59 PM PST
• WINNERS: Winners will be announced on VIVE Mars' Instagram and Facebook on June 25th, 2025

• ‍SPECIAL BONUS AWARD (will be announced for winner of entry using VIVE Mars BETA Software)
  To be eligible for the special award, participants must:  
  a. Use VIVE Mars BETA software in the creation of the video entry
  b. Create a Behind-The-Scenes video showing them using the software to create their entry

COMPETITION RULES:

• The participant must be a VIVE Mars Facebook Group Member‍
• The participant must use VIVE Mars CamTrack with one of the following:
  a. LED Wall, Green Screen, or Augmented Reality
  b. Post-Production VFX – Record your camera position for offline VFX using Path Recorder
  c. VCAM - Animation using VIVE Mars for virtual camera motion
• Each participant is allowed only one entry as the DIRECTOR (exception: BETA Software submission - see details under SPECIAL BONUS AWARD)
  a. We encourage production teams to submit multiple entries with each member directing their own entry
• The participant is required to include the following in their scene:
  a. Required 3D Asset *Must be visible at least once in the scene, however large or small
  Google Drive: Download 3D Asset
  Weiyun: Download 3D Asset‍
• The entry must be an original work
• The participant must submit 2 files:
  a. Best Shot! Student Edition entry (This refers not only to a single take or shot, but can also be a sequence lasting 1 to 3 minutes.)
  b. Behind-The-Scenes entry (Must include footage of Mars CamTrack)

• SPECIAL BONUS AWARD
  This year, we’re featuring a Special Bonus Award for the best entry using VIVE Mars BETA Software. To be eligible for this award, participants must:
  a. Email Marsbestshot@vive.com to receive a Download Link to our BETA software
  b. Create a Behind-The-Scenes video showing them using the software to create their entry
  
  **NOTE: A 3D asset is not required for entries submitted using the BETA Software. Participants submitting for the Special Bonus Award with the BETA Software may also submit a separate entry for the non-BETA Software submission, totaling two (2) entries from that director.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Submissions will only be accepted from April 21st, 2025 - June 8th, 2025
2. The duration of the Best Shot! Student Edition must be between 1 - 3 minutes (This refers not only to a single take or shot, but can also be a sequence lasting 1 to 3 minutes.)
3. The duration of the Behind-The-Scenes entry must be between 1 - 5 minutes (Must include footage of Mars CamTrack)
4. The submission form must be filled out (will be provided in submission link)
5. The videos must be in .mp4 or .mov format

Winner will be judged on the following:

1. Best Cinematography  
2. Best Story
3. Best Performance
4. Best Behind-The-Scenes

SPECIAL BONUS AWARD will be announced for winner of entry using VIVE Mars BETA software
